I have always wanted to own a website where people can read my write-ups: a special place to house my works and allow the world to enjoy them. But I never knew how to set one up and I didn’t want to use the free plans because I didn’t want the stress of transferring and losing files.
Towards the end of 2021, I received a newsletter from Ingressive 4 Good. One of the best things that have happened to me was when a friend introduced me to Ingressive 4 Good and I subscribed to their newsletter.

In the opportunities section, they stated that a website hosting company, Hostbeak, was going to sponsor 1000 creators across Africa to get their domain names, host their website, teach them how to monetize the website and learn SEO optimization all for free. Ahhh! I could not believe my eyes. It was too good to be true. I had to wait one day before I applied because I couldn’t just believe the opportunity. What I’ve always wanted was standing in front of me at no cost, all I had to do was reach for it!

I put my best foot forward in my application. I made sure I was confident in my answers and that they couldn’t deny me the opportunity. After submitting, I prayed and stalked their page to have an idea of when they would release the list of the winners. I was so expectant that after waiting for months, I sent Hostbeak a message asking if they had already selected their winners and they responded that they were still compiling the list of the winners.
I have a habit of checking my emails every day so I don’t slack on any opportunity. It’s one of the proven ways to be ten steps ahead of village people. That morning, I checked my mail and saw my congratulatory mail and nearly somersaulted.

They gave us 2 weeks period of onboarding so no creator would be left behind, and then we were sent our calendar so we could plan our time around it. I was waiting for someone to pinch me and tell me April’s fool! That’s funny because we started on the first of April.
But it was no joke. Hostbeak took an initiative that was genius. They brought creators to know who they are by giving us something that will blow our minds while keeping us as customers. Ogooluwa (Hostbeak founder) was not sleeping in business class.
We had classes where they taught us all that they promised. We all got our domain names and web hosting for free! We were taught how to develop WordPress websites so not only were we getting websites for free, we became WordPress developers. An extra hat to my many hats.
Hostbeak also assigned us into smaller groups and gave us a mentor so we had someone who tracked our progress. My mentor was Ore aka OryG, our super mummy. Helpful is an understatement for what Ore was to me. Apart from the classes Hostbeak gave us, she designed a whole learning program for us with step by step processes on everything we needed to customize our websites and if we felt stuck, she would log into our websites and fix it. She was doing superhero things with all that tech stuff; our angel in tech.
Because of Hostbeak, I have entered a higher level in my journey as a creator and I might not be able to truly thank the company and the brains behind this initiative enough.
Moral lesson: Trust in God, check your emails and your spam, read the newsletters you subscribe to (subscribe to mine😁), and put in your best in every application. Success will be your baby.
Dear Hostbeak, Thank you for everything.
